Shooting vests/recoil pads

Does anyone have a recommendation in terms of brand/type? I've heard that surplus Flak vests work well.

I have a Past shooting pad, put it on with a strap. It works well. I bought it when I got my 7 mag, but it comes in handy with my Hawkin Hunter carbine. That thing has a recoil pad, but it only weighs 6 lbs. With a 90 grain charge of black powder and a 385 grain 50 caliber minie ball, I need the pad.

I'll check those out. My .458 Lott CZ isn't as bad as I was fearing, but sighting it in has me feeling a bit used...

I'll second the past pad. They make different thicknesses. I have the medium pad, but I'd try the thickest if I ordered another one.

I have the PAST magnum pad and other than the 'Bro look I like it a lot. Where it's pretty cool is when shooting from otherwise uncomfortable positions with milsurps
