Shooting While Pregnant?

Discussed extensively in previous threads.

Read the THR Library article on lead and shooting.

Anecdotal evidence from others has shown the baby is more active when doing loud activities so they can hear it.

My wife swears this is the case. Sister-in-law dropped an empty 5 gallon bucket behind my wife over the weekend. Scared both wife and number 2 son. My wife said it felt like the little begger was going to jump out of her stomach! :D

You let her cool down between runs?

well...I'm just glad I"m married this time lol. She wanted the kids to be close, anyway. :neener:

You know, they've finally determined the cause of that, and it can be prevented.

:scrutiny: I wish. Nothing cept for abstinence, apparently. :banghead:
...and the wife wants one more after this one, for a total of 3.

Thanks for all of the advice, everyone. there seems to be a few different opinions back and forth and stuff. I DO think that our society these days is way too careful with lots of things. I also don't think lead exposure is something to not worry about.

I think we *may* go shoot once, with appropriately padded clothes, maybe she can wear a mask and of course washing up afterwards. maybe. i still haven't really decided. She's going to ask her doctor this tuesday (first appt) and see what they say, too.

Sparingly, with precautions, I don't think it would really hurt. but then again like some of you said, why risk it?

Thanks again for all the comments and info!

noise = bad for baby. She can wear hearing protection. Little guy can't.

lead = bad for baby. Especially if it's an indoor range - not worth the risk.

All around, not a good idea.

Put the hearing protection on the end of the muzzle.
Then you can shoot without the noise.

Lead in her system means lead in the fetus's system.

Prevent lead from entering her system and it won't enter the baby's system.

You prevent lead from entering the body by using lead-free ammunition and shooting out of doors.

Noise is another matter altogether and I've never been able to find any studies one way or the other.
