Heard about this on the local news this morning. Apparently a guy had a house fire, returned this morning to check out the damage and was greeted by a BG who started shooting at him. The news showed a weapon which I assumed was his, it was a full size GLOCK with a streamlight weapon light.

Listen to the 911 call. Sounds like he did the right thing.

Dispatch: "What did he look like?"
Victim: "Umm, brown hair, scraggly looking, kinda like a . . . a dope-fiend type. . ."
Dispatch: "What was he wearing?"
Victim: "ahh . . . a BIG GUN!"

:D :D :D

The caller sound like he was more composed than the dispatcher. He kept saying "I understand" when he probably didn't... I guess that is code for "shut up and let me ask the next question."

Dispatch: "Anything else you can remember about the suspect?"
Caller: "The pistol looked like it had a barrel the size of a 55 gallon drum."

I was surprised how composed he was also. That clip started a little later than the one on the news this morning. Before this clip started it went something like:
Dispatch: 911
Victim: Hi I'm at 225...oh S*$%!
BANG...
BANG BANG BANG BANG
Dispatch: Hello? Hello?
Then this clip started.
He was pretty adimant about not getting shot or beat down when the cops showed up! I would be also.

Wow, that guy is hardcore!

I'm going to guess there's more to this story. The caller sounds like he may have been ex-mil (composed, wearing camo).

According to this report you guys are right http://www.katu.com/news/local/4655076.html

Quote from story:
Gun casings from Mumey's firearm were found, along with a broken window. Police say a dog search also came up with nothing that would indicate an intruder had been there. A total of 11 shots were fired into the home.

Brian Mumey is an Iraq war veteran and when asked whether he might have imagined that someone was inside the home because of his experience overseas, he said absolutely not.

Not sure what their logic was for that question? Do they figure trouble just follows veterans?

This reminds me of an audio clip of a 911 call being made by a off duty LEO in California I believe. This was before the days of cell phone sand somehow the LEO got involved in a shootout while off duty. He made it to a phone booth and dialed 911. He was very calm, describing the BGs, himself and giving an account of what was going on. Servewral times he asked the 911 operator to hang on as he went out to take a couple of shots at the BGs. Keep fully composed and cool throughout the entire incident.
