Christmas shoppers trample and ignore an unconscious woman on the floor. Disgusting. How would you have handled this situation if it were your mother? I can tell you some people would have gotten bloody noses (oh, sorry sir, pardon my elbow in your face, perhaps next time you'll step AROUND the helpless woman?) at the least, if it were me there - even if it wasn't my mother. Does anyone here have experience trying to handle large crowds?

Would it be safer to move/drag the unconscious woman out of the main flow of people, not knowing at the time what was wrong with her, or would it make more sense to put whatever you could in front of her as a barrier after sending someone to get the store manager?

'Tis the season

This type of behavior sickens me. The poor woman was having a potentially fatal seizure while everyone is stepping on or over her to buy cheap crap and ignoring her brother's attempts to render aid. We've become a cargo cult.

If I could pick the person up, I would. Trampling is a viable life threating situation IMO. Not sure what I would do if I couldn't move the person.

My wife entered the melee last year to pick up a digital camera at Wal-Mart for what we thought was a one time price break (turned out to be the regular price after the holidays). She too got knocked down and nearly trampled. We found out a month later she was pregant. No harm done though as Abby is 3 months old and doing well.

I'm not normally one to encourage litigation, but I'd be inclined to go after Walmart for creating a public nuisance/failing to control the crowd.. Don't know how far it would get, but I bet they'd settle. That people behave badly in these little greed fests is a known phenomena, and I think their promotional strategy creates a dangerous environment. A pox on 'em all.

''Buyer's frenzy'' ........ ''Sale fever'' ....... or plain simple ''herd instinct''.

Any or all of these can apply to far too many people ... driven beyond their normal behaviors by greed and competition ...... ''gotta get there first'' etc.

Sickens me that so many behave this way ....... one of the many reasons I shun high density shopping situations .... way too many pig ignorant and self-centered morons around to be able to feel that this is still the human race.

Sad reflection on the society we see around us today - to excess.

Oh come on guys. This is suprising behavior? Happens every year. Got to get there and max out the credit cards; got to revert to prehistoric instincts. Its darwinism at its extreme. Here in Portland, they are advertising DVD players for as low as $30.00 Better show up with a baseball bat.

Ellzey said Wal-Mart officials called later Friday to ask about her sister, and the store apologized and offered to put a DVD player on hold for her.
The least they could do is give her one. Top of the line to boot.

Are we talking about Strategies and Tactics here? This topic is kind of a stretch. Not gun related so I can't move to General Discussion. Sorry guys, I'm going to close it as OT.
