I have always wanted a sig, but I've always found the reach to the triggers just a little too far except on the 225 and 239. I am wondering, can you fit a short reach trigger to the 220? Is it a sig part or an aftermarket part? How much of a difference does it make?

Thanks,

Yep - Sig makes them. I put one in mine and it made a very good difference. It's just enough shorter, that I feel I have better control of the pistol.

I did two other things that improved the feel of the gun to me. I put a strip of antiskid tape on the front strap. I also replaced the grips with a pair of Sig factory grips that Hogue re-checkers into something useful. The stock Sig grips on the P-220 are shameful. They are so slick, that they are hard to hold confidently. I cannot guess why Sig would do this. The old model Sig P-220s had better checkering, as do the P-225s and P-226s.

Kestrel,

Where did you get the short trigger from? I'm thinking about the short trigger for my P229.

I ordered it directly from Sig. I'll probably get one for my P-226, too.
