I doubt his feeling on pressing charges will really come into play. The DA will go after the shooter irregardless of what the shootee wants done.

Metal detectors (magnatometers) detect changes in the magnetic field. If there isn't enough metal to make a large-enough change in the magnetic field, then the alarm is triggered.
That's why all that metal on your jeans (zipper, buttons, rivets) don't set off the detector.
