So tonight was my first time shooting a structured event outside of trap. I joined the pistol league at my club that trains for Camp Perry. I am shooting the league with a S&W 22A and due to a time crunch, shooting the 40 rounds tonight makes it a whole 210 rounds through the gun.

I don't know exactly what the competition style is so I am gonna write the format and if someone can name it great.

-25yd range
-1 set of 10 rounds in 10 minutes slowfire (rules stated 2x 5rd magazines)
-2 sets of 5 rounds in 20 seconds
-2 sets of 5 rounds in 10 seconds
-All our shots our on a single NRA B8 25-yard target

Results??
-Out of 30 total rounds fire I scored 80 on the target with 13 hits, yes that means not every bullet hit paper.
-The gun doesn't go off when you have the safety on.
-It's nice to shoot at a local league because when you don't get a single round off in a rapid fire section they let you re-shoot it. I had the safety on and thought the gun was malfunctioning.

Well more results will be added next week.

sounds like a lot of fun bigalexe
You shot a National Match Course.

Most likely you shot a B16 for the slow fire which is the slow fire target at 25 yards. (Regular is the B6 for 50 yards)

Then you shot the B8 target for the sustained fire of Timed and Rapid most likely, just like a regular match.

For a regular 900 you will shoot two strings of 10 for a Slow Fire match.
Then the National Match that you shot.
Then the Timed Fire Match of twenty shots
Then the Rapid Fire Match of twenty shots.

You shoot in a very friendly league! most times if you make a mistake like not loading your magazine, or leaving the safety on (one reason I never touch the safety, always on "fire") or any other forgetful things, that is just too bad! :)

When I started I shot at my range that had each lane with increasing distances, starting at 7 yards and moving farther to 15 yards. I would put the one inch black stickers with green paint underneath, and work on those at seven yards to when I would get good, then move out to 9 yards, then 10 yards, etc.

This "grasshopper" approach really let me understand trigger control (by the way, no matter if you are a beginner or a high master, Bullseye is all about trigger control)

Welcome and hope to see you at Perry!!

I went and grabbed the target out of my car, the original post is being edited as such.

Some notes on how OUR league runs.
-We get 1 target.
-You can score in between the sets or once at the end.
-If the target is getting shot up you tape the holes with the appropriate color and keep using it.
-Scores are recorded weekly by the league. We keep our targets.

Oh and sorry to disappoint but I'm not planning on attending Perry this year. I'll save that trip until I have stable employment. Honestly I justified spending the cash to shoot the league as being physical therapy, which it is.

After 4 weeks:

80
67
72
122

Here's the explanation:
At week 1 & 2 I had the gun improperly sighted which is the topic of another thread. Then due to being busy I could not shoot the 3rd & 4th weeks so I went and shot both of those today. The first string (week 3) I had poor follow-through and knew it afterward, just wasn't doing it right. The that 2nd string (week 4) I worked on my follow through and as you can see I nearly doubled my score...

FOLLOW THROUGH!!!!
