I finally was able to get out to the sticks to do some blasting today.
and Brought with me 30 ea of the following reloads to see how they worked.

all had once fired LC-05 Brass
Hornady 55g FMJ/BT bullets
CCI#41 Primers.
and the following loads
all AA 2230
24.0 Gr
24.5 Gr
25.0 Gr
COL 2.225
lee Factory Crimped die used lightly
Fired from a RRA 16" Tactical CAR

They all shot great with no over pressure signs.

the 24.5 gr load seemed most accurate with the best groups

I was a bit panicked with the 25 's as I was way off for the first 3 rounds
turned out my Aimpoint had come loose.:banghead:

I manged 5 hits in a row on tannerite bottles at 75 yards with these handloads

and the only bad part of the day was 3 out of 100 Radway surplus rounds not firing with good firing pin strikes.

so My AMMO is more reliable then Surplus Radway :neener:

all in all shooting my first reloads was a hoot and now that I am home
I will be going into production mode ASAP with my lee 1000

thanks to everyone here who posts, I have read and learned from the hundreds of posts in this forum.

and using the excel spreadsheet found here my cost per 1000 reloads 110.00
what a bargain of course that is only components. but I am using lee equipment so that wasn't too much.

At first you get all confused because of all the info.

Then you finally get the courage and load some up, crossing your fingers and hoping the gun doesn't explode.

After a while, you crank 'em out and wonder why you didn't start sooner and wonder why you wasted all that money on factory stuff.

flynlr, did you counter-weight the back of the cart? Don't you get some instability when you have to size a tough case? I've considered a setup like that before and was just curious.

BTW, if you're going to do product placement, you need to make sure teh largest logo on the can is facing forward. :)

Gee, that setup looks a little like mine...nice, compact...but don't have the fireplace going with open powder!

Loaded about 5,000 of various flavors over the last few years, (yeah, i don't reload much, compared to some here...), but it is a fun, relaxing, and productive hobby, ain't it?;)

that never crossed my mind as that fireplace hasn't been used in years.

that cart is very heavy + i have 4 ammocans full of surp 556 on the bottom shelf that helps.

and I now keep the primers and powder in another room of the house. bringing only enough for the hopper out when I need it.

I like rats. I have one named snikers, he was lucky. I kinda got attached to him while my snake was being picky and wouldn't eat. So now he is my pet. Oh ya...i like the set up. I have the same presses. i might have a few questions about the pro1000. i got one from a friend the other day in the .40 flavor and only paid $40 for it. i havn't gotten it set up yet, but when i do, i want to convert it to .223. i will PM you when it is set up.

ain't it great to reload better ammo than you can buy? i've never not had a reload go off when i pulled the trigger on it..... i can't say that about factory ammo..... congrats and welcome to reloading...... it's a great way to spend hobby time for me... i hope you stick with it..........

Oh, and is that the Lee Classic Turret?

timothy

thats the lee pro 1000 along with a classic single stage,. I use the single stage for decapping
then the 1000 for real fast sizing

then I trim clean debur and prime etc. off press

back to the 1000 for fast powder drop and bullet seating

and finally back to the single stage for a bit of a crimp.
