I made up 40 rounds of .454 Casull on Saturday.
20 loads
Starline cases
CCI 450 small rifle magnum primers
29.0gr of H110
300gr Oregon Trail LFP bullet
OAL 1.750"

CCI 450 small rifle magnum primers
30.0gr of H110
300gr Oregon Trail LFP bullet
OAL 1.750"
First six shots (all fired double action) of the 29.0gr load all landed on an 8-1/2" paper plate at 25 yards ... good combat accuracy as Michael Bane would call it. I didn't adjust the sights at all yesterday ... just left them at the factory setting. The 30.0gr loads were hitting about 6" high compared to the 29.0gr loads. All I can say is what a fantastic relolver. Recoil is stout but very, very manageable and definitely NOT something to be afraid of. This is not a revolver that wants to stay in the safe ... this is a shooter!
The only issues yesterday were four FTFs which IIRC were all from the 30.0gr load. Is it possible/likely that the primers were backing out under recoil? Looking at the fired cases, some primers seem to have lighter strikes than others but this will need further investigation. I'm fairly confident that I seated all of the primers properly. The Starline brass is new and the primer pockets were quite tight.
Anyway, the Ruger Super Redhawk "Alaskan" gets two thumbs up!! Safety glasses should be mandatory based on the grit blasting I got with each shot!!
