I actually did my longhorn hunt last year without ever firing a shot on paper. Sighted it in shooting at small rocks at the old man's pond with the Beartooth 355gr at 1250fps. Last week I shot the 310gr load consisting of Oregon Trail's WFN with a huge .370" meplat at about 1400fps. Now I'm testing the Grizzly 300gr Punch bullet in their factory offerings, both the long and short version. The longer version is advertised at 1200fps and loaded long for those guns with longer cylinders, like the Redhawk and Super Redhawk. The short version is for everything else and 1100fps. Plus Buffalo Bore's 340gr +P+ load, just because I always wanted to try them. All groups are five shots at 25yds.

The longer version of the 300gr Punch load takes up nearly all of the available space in the cylinder. Even longer than the Buffalo Bore 340gr.

Nice shooting!!! I guess rocks are definitely a good way to sight in a revolver!! Like them big ol bullets too !!

The underestimated Super Redhawk! Great revolvers, no doubt! Nice done, Craig - great shooting!

They are definitely underrated! The bull barrel on the newer guns also tames recoil considerably.

Nice shooting, look like some interesting loads. I love my SRH, probably my favorite revolver I own

That is exactly the same as my 44. Including the red dot. I use a 240 XTP that has accounted for several deer.

Gotta love the Super RedHawk. My SRH insulates my model 29 from all of my hot 44 mag loads, keeping it crisp, smooth and tight while the SRH just chugs along and shrugs it all off. The 29 shooting 44 special level cast bullet loads will slightly best my SRH but not by much. Your SRH groups with heavy loads is some good shootin....

99% of it is mental. It's taken me two years to work out the flinch I developed shooting the .480 with the wrong grips.
