Please excuse the newbie question....but what is the typical shelf-life of buckshot shells? If I found a box sitting around for 5 or 10 years, should I reasonably expect them to suitably perform?
Quality manufactured ammunition stored in relatively climate controlled conditions will easily last decades if not a century or more. Look at the mil-surp stuff on the market being shot that was manufactured around World War I etc.
I don't know what the limit is, but every once in a while I'll unpack a box that my dad packed a while back, and find a couple boxes of 12 ga. From other contents in the box, I'd guess most of the shells are about 25-30 years old. They work fine.
