2. The RCBS Uniflow III.

To me this appears to be the Quick Change Uniflow with a brass release button on the cylinder's side, but..... here's the RCBS spiel:

"Uniflow III Powder Measure – Designed as the most accurate volumetric dispenser on the market, the Uniflow III Powder Measure features machined reference surfaces and exacting tolerances for consistent, reliable measuring. With its one metering cylinder, both rifle and pistol loaders no longer need to purchase an additional rotor or metering cylinder. Now, the one metering screw can do it all, saving users both time and money. For enhanced precision, the new measure is capable of throwing charges from 0.5 to 120 grains. Large enough to hold 1 pound of extruded power or ½ pound of flake powder, the Uniflow III provides extended reloading sessions for pros and amateurs alike."

Thumbnail below: shows it mounted to a new Rebel Press.
UPM3_9016_ThreeQuarter.jpg My question.....are different size pull-out stem's going to do the volume changes from pistol to rifle like the Quick Change.....or are they really changing something?

Shooting Illustrated says they are doing it all with one adjustment screw pull-out stem????? That'll be interesting.....we will see.

Another question.....hoppers.....are the big ones going to be available, or maybe the Quick Change with it's big hopper will still exist.....again....we will see.

My thoughts? Happy for the single station crowd.....especially those who hate the old RCBS spent primer handling system. Sad for the Progressive Crowd. Seems they have given up on us. Yes! Of course I was hoping for more development for the Pro Chuckers. Guess the corporate lords above them have tied their hands......again.

New, easy grip splined drive surface allows easy, accurate and fast die installation in your press. Reloading dies are confusingly similar looking, so we anodized and colored the bushings - https://leeprecision.com/lock-ring-elim-4-pack.html

Automatic Processing Press (APP)
, the fastest and easiest way to prepare cases and size cast bullets. It is also a very convenient single station reloading press ... first press of its kind with the ability to mount the die to the top or bottom of the press. This die mounting flexibility allows previously unheard of automation on a single station press. Now you can deprime, primer pocket swage, bulge bust or size cast bullets as fast as you can operate the lever.

The grip is completely symmetrical making either hand operation a delight ... The upper die carrier is counter balanced by a centrally mounted coil spring. The counter balance prevents the handle from falling and pinching a finger ... The APP is a “frameless” design with nearly all the forces going directly to the dies through the steel linkages rather than through the frame. As a single stage reloading press, it has almost unlimited visibility and hand clearance. Mounting is easy on any bench or table with no under swing - https://leeprecision.com/app-automatic-processing-press/

Finally found an RCBS video which answered all my questions above:
The Uniflow III FINALLY! has a hopper that screws off......that means other sized hoppers are coming. Also, the pretty gold button isn't a pull button that's hard on the hands like the Quick Change......its a thumb screw! Yesssss so changing metering screws will be a breeze. I hate it when all my new equipment goes obsolete!

Of course no other upgrades for the Pro Chuckers.......notice in the video that the case feeder is not even on the presses.....that tells me that something else is on the way or they are giving up on it....I had to modify mine to make it sing. No bullet feeder is shown either. RCBS is slow. At least Will shows his knowledgeable seasoned side....last year (his first year) he looked like a deer caught in headlights.....or a scared rabbit, take your pick. This year, calm, cool, collected. Good job Will.

(Precision Measurement System) Yup, a bit pricey at $254.99 Midway price, but it does a lot .... looks like a keeper! Saving my money....;) Midway says it's "overdue" so its probably not made of unobtainium.....but the base is obviously cast iron or steel.

Glen Zediker would probably agree with you......I believe it was he who taught to add an "O" ring under even conventionally locked die nuts to give them sideways play so they could self center.

The only thing I've seen in the last while that got me excited was the Lee APP. Everything else is just rehashed and relabeled. You could probably count the forum threads created about the Pro-Chucker with one hand.

It's good to see Lee coming out with the APP that fills the reloader's needs at an affordable price and appears to have been tested enough in pre-production to be sold without having to be reworked by the user. I have been looking for a second press.

I pre-ordered the APP.....yeah it got me excited too. But I canceled when they changed and upped the price on the swager kit. It's not that I won't get one.....I'll just wait, thank-you, until they get it sorted out. Lee doesn't have the same problem as RCBS.....they're not owned by a conglomerate who doesn't know how to market....so I expect I'll have one by this summer to play with.

appears to have been tested enough
So Jesse, hold on to that thought....they are almost there.

AR-Bossman: I know, and I can't help yet. I absolutely love my Pro Chucker 7, put it's still not ready for prime time. I had to fix some things that you can't get upgrade kits for....so I don't, can't, promote it. They know what to do, to make it world class, but it's looking less and less like they will. I don't have a clue why....they are so close.

The one clue that maybe something could be coming, is that I noticed in the video that no case or bullet feeder was shown on either press. The buggy case feeder, which I fixed without that much problem, is their last problem with the press IMO, except a collator is necessary before anyone will take it serious. If a new case feeder is coming it better come with a decent collator.....if not they might as well drop it and move on ...... and maybe they have. We will see. but geeze....it is sooo smooth!:)

They have now discontinued the rifle bullet feeder/collator that they had for the Pro 2000! So no conversion to the new press. Last year's new "tube" rifle bullet feeder they made for the Pro Chucker is awesome......but no collator for that either.

The conglomerate may not let them build collators without a guarantee they'll sell....so there we are. They can't sell what they don't make and develop. Maybe Lyman will buy them! :D
