Shot Show THR Get Together RSVP

Please reply if you are definitely going to the SHOT show and you would like to attend a THR get-together while there.

Please state whether you would prefer to meet Friday or Saturday night. We'll take a "vote" on the night.

Either night is good for me.

Ya'll stay tuned to this thread...we'll come up with a night in a little while.

I have a bunch of folks from ar15.com that I'm meeting up with. Of course, we don't know when though, so whatever you guys decide on, I will try to make it.

Yes and yes!

I'm still not sure if my wife and 2 kids are coming up for the weekend or not.

If I'm solo, I will be up for any and all THR RDVs!

Matt

Guys, I'll be there but I'm headed out late Friday night so if you folks are up for dinner on Friday, count me in. I'm usually in Vegas every couple of months or so for one expo or another and I'd take this opportunity to recommend you guys try out Chinatown for excellent (authentic) Chinese cuisine or seafood.

Crap.
I am taking a four day defensive shotgun class on that weekend at Front Sight. I would imagine that we won't get out of there until like 1800. I would have to drive about 30 miles the wrong way to get cleaned up and change clothes.
Depending on what time this is going to take place, and where it is going to take place, I would make the effort to be there.
Either night is OK for me, but late would be nice. I am not sure what time you guys leave the show.
I suppose I could wear a pair of kahki Royal Robins and slip into a golf shirt and show up dirty.

Steve Smith: Please keep me in the loop for any THR meet-ups. I can be found at booth 929 in the LE section with Accu-Shot.

Just look for a big poster that looks like this. I'll be the guy in front of it with a stack of books on the table!

444, I'm pretty sure there is only one Chinatown here and it is the one on Spring Mountain Rd. and Arville, the one that looks like a shopping mall. There is also a really good indoor range right next to Chinatown. American Shooter Supply has good ventilation and has machinegun rentals for out of towners.

Yeah, I have eaten there many times.
I just wanted to make sure that he wasn't talking about a restraunt by that name somewhere else.
I think it is a capital idea to meet somewhere off the strip.

444, you got it. I was there (CES Show) last month with the folks from INKE and being that they were Asians, every other night we tried a new restaurant and suffice to say, I had better food there than I did on the strip (except for Rosewood Grill).

I'll be at the Show, and I'd like to make a get-together but not sure I can. I'm not even sure I can make it around the whole show with my bad feet, and if I'm really hurtin' when I go home I may not want to drive the 30 min. to come back. But if it's not too late and I can go from the show to there I'd love to meet everyone.

American Shooter Supply has good ventilation and has machinegun rentals for out of towners.

If there's one range I hate it's that place. Any place that doesn't allow my CCW is bad enough, but telling off-duty cops they can't carry is too much. That and the snooty attitude of the range staff is too much for me. For visiting from out of town it'd be ok, but I'd recommend The Gun Store before that place. Everything's cheaper to rent there too.

Valkman I mentioned American Shooter because it was right next to Chinatown. In retrospect they are very snobbish and uptight, but they do run a tight ship and being Asian and young I get stared down alot at all gun ranges and stores anyways so it doesn't bother me. I haven't used the range at The Gun Store, because it's on the other side of town, but from what I've heard they are good too. I would like to try their simulation screen someday.

ARRANGEMENTS MADE!!!!

Alright, Steve; let's see how this goes.....

Preliminary reservations are made for Thurs. evening, Feb 12 at a Thai/Chinese restaurant called

Kung Fu. GREAT food, excellent service, reasonably priced.
(My PERSONAL recommendation)
Located at corner of Spring Mt Rd and Valley View; owned and operated by an older Oriental couple with VERY high standards. Close to the Strip; even closer to most "dens of iniquity." Eastern edge of Chinatown. Large dining room; about 12 tables of 6 each, and adjacent bar. Mama-san (Sunee) runs the place; her husband; the bar. VERY nice people. I will need a local board member to help co-ordinate everone; if there are too many I'd hate to eat somewhere else less enjoyable but will see how many respond. A terrific meal will run about $15-$25; with drinks.
Please e-mail me with confirmations by Mon, Feb 2 evening so I can determine our size for them. There will also be members from other boards, so please advise me early if we must relocate.

I've contacted several stores with ranges and they ALL expect to be overwhelmed during the show; but I may be able to arrange a discount for a range pass. They tell me they expect to be too busy to join our dinner; meetings, etc for their business preclude this. I'll post an update after I hear from everyone interested............. Thanks; I hope to see you all......

Citizen,

Kung Fu sounds good. I did get a chance to meet Sunee last month. My client who took me there apparently has been in and out of Vegas for years and he's always paid Sunee a visit. Pleasant folks.

I'm in Thurs. What time do you have in mind?

It seems as though everyone was choosing Fri. or Sat. night and the reservations are being made for Thursday night? Is this ok with everyone? I emailed citizen to see if he wants help setting it up. Now I have to go there soon and try it out! Everyone send me $5 and I'll go "test the waters" so to speak. :p
