Shot size and rabbit hunting

I stopped caring about the score and began just carrying a 22 rifle. Did pretty well actually with it in comparison with a shotgun.

I'd love to bring the CZ 452 to hunt them, but the land where we hunt is restricted to shotguns. It's pretty close to some houses that have appeared in the middle of nowhere. Darn suburban sprawl.

I've shot them with lead 4, 6, 7, 71/2, steel 6 and 7, as well as .22 LR. They all end up about equally dead. I've had no problem killing them with#7 steel shot. I use a .410 with an 18 inch barrel and shots are seldom farther than 20 yards. Most of the time I use steel shot. As others have pointed out, 6 shot is the easiest to pick out.

Have fun out there. We've had a good rabbit season so far this year.
