OK, OK, I must declare once again how much I love #5 lead shot. If only we could still shoot ducks with it.... Recently on a squirrel hunt, I shot four times, killing three raccoons with #5 shot at an average shotgun range. Purty big animal for essentially birdshot. Oh, did I mention this was a 1 oz, 2.75" 20 gauge? :D

Also, does anyone know of a 20 gauge shotshell using lead shot larger than #4 birdshot and smaller than #4 buckshot? :scrutiny:

Lead 5s are quite useful. I could kill lots of meat with 71/2s, 5s and 2s only.

2s for geese.

7 1/2s for small birds

5s for the rest.....

My boys just started hunting geese and 20 gauge heavy shot #4 & #6 really knocked those suckers out. My oldest dropped one at about 30 paces and it hit the ground dead.

My only complaint is that I get to pay for the shells. $1.45 or so for every shot. Thank the Lord that we're limited to only 3 shells.:)
