I had picked up an XD9 Tactical (5" barrel) at the gun show Saturday. Shot it at the range Sunday for about 100 rounds using 115 gr. ammo, which as reported it wasn't all that accurate with. Tonight I used WWB 147 gr. ammo for the Tuedsday night shoot and it ran like a top. If anything the felt recoil was less and muzzle rise was easier to control, and it just seemed to cycle smoother.

It will take a few more runs to get used to the long trigger pull though, twice I thought something ws wrong with the gun because I simply had not pulled the trigger far enough. I normally shoot a BHP or Witness Elite Match in .40 so I'm used to a somewhat shorter trigger pull. Anyway, the XD9 was still a little faster due to the reduced recoil, and was plenty accurate enough.

I'm glad it worked well for you. I've been impressed with my XD45 Tactical, though it's a little bigger than what I'd like to carry on a regular basis. I found out the first time I shot it and much to my surprise that it was an easy pistol to be accurate with.

I've been using my own XD9 Tactical for IDPA since last March - I'm still a little surprised at how many of my targets wind up with 2 holes touching, even though it seems to happen at least once every match.

Plus, I usually get some glory and bragging rights shooting my XD in Enhanced Service Pistol - but mainly 'cuz there's only 2-3 other shooters who bother with ESP; everyone else shoots 1911's in Custom Defensive Pistol or Glocks in Stock Service Pistol(OK, there's a few die-hards who stick it out in Custom Defensive/Stock Service Revolver).

Kor, we used to be similar in what people shot. We still have quite a few shooting SSP, several shooting CDP, but a surprising number of people shooting ESP now. A mixture of 9mm 1911's, Glocks with magwells added, and things like the BHP and Witness Match series.
