So I have this wife who despises my pistol shooting habit. I have taken her out to the sporting clays course and trap shooting places here in Jax. She does not love it, but she likes the fact that there were Range Rovers in the parking lot and everyone was dressed nicely. So I am going to buy her a shotgun of her own to take with us to shoot.

Here is my dilema and I like the fact that very few people know who I am :neener:

I would like to get her a 20ga SxS with a limit of $1500. I would like it to have at least 28" barrels. She is quite the "EuroPhile" and likes all things european. She also has admired the engraving on a few of my guns so anything "pretty" would help. What shotgun manufacturer would appeal to this type of personality? Beretta might be a little rich for MY blood but I would like to rely on fellow members for a few suggestions. The gun would rarely be shot and most likely end up being a conversation piece for her.

Thanks!

would suggest perusing shotgunworld.com for a good source of info on less expensive SxS shotguns. I've handled a couple of the CZ SxS guns(around $600-$800 IIRC) and they felt pretty darn good.

I was thinking the same thing. Since it is unlikely to see thousands of rounds, it might be a good choice.

You would like to buy her a 20 gauge, but she will probably like shooting a 28 gauge. Mine has a Rem Sporting 28 and she can shoot over a 100 rounds w/o a sore shoulder.

Franci highlander can be found at some places for $1100 but 20 gauge only comes with a 26" barrel. Wonderful gun crafted in italy even comes with a pretty case. (plus when she sees them rednecks on the third trip she wont mind if you have it).
