Is there a preferred powder for steel loads? It will mostly be 3.5" 12ga. Unique is handy and Tightgroup is readily available. Thanks.

Very nice! Does your (or anyone else here) experience match the manufacturer's claims?

YES!

It does what they claim. It has for me at least. I spent a lot of time and components trying to achieve any decent velocity with the old slow burning powders. Without success.

When "STEEL" powder came out, I could get the velocity needed for quick kills on waterfowl. Most of the loads are a bit lighter than the factory loads, but their increased speed make them penetrate better.

For waterfowl loads, Steel is the way to go. It's also very safe becuase of the abundance of quality data available for it. Just find a load that matches your criteria and stuff 'em. No need for interpolating data, or guess work.
