I might be getting involved in an interesting and lucrative project out near JFK airport. My Beretta pistole can not come with me, but I was wondering about getting my next planned purchase of what I call my Hurricane gun - a Mossberg 500 or 590 such as:

500® PERSUADER®/CRUISER
  • 8 SHOT
  • Gauge 12
  • 3" shells
  • BEAD SIGHT
  • 20" Barrel
  • BEAD Front Sight

590® SPECIAL PURPOSE
  • 9 SHOT
  • Gauge 12
  • 3" shells
  • HEAT SHIELD INSTALLED
  • 20" Barrel
  • BEAD Front Sight

Any legal problems in Bloombergville if I have one of these in my apartment?

GUN LAWS & CONCEALED WEAPONS
It is a serious crime to carry an unregistered concealed weapon. In addition, some weapons are completely forbidden. Here is the law:
Assault weapons, like machine guns, are banned in New York City. A permit and a valid NYC gun license are required for the purchase of a shotgun, rifle, or handgun. These are also required in order to carry the aforementioned weapons. The licensing officer in NYC is the Police Commissioner. A NYC license expires three years after it is issued. A license to possess a firearm also serves as a license to carry, unless it is restricted. There is no waiting period for the purchase of a firearm. Immediate FBI background checks are made for all firearms purchases, unless the purchaser has a valid license to carry and possess. No person may carry, possess, or transport a firearm through NYC unless he has a valid NYC license.

It's tough to find a clear cut statement of NYC law regarding rifles/shotguns

:what:

Thats more than I paid to the ATF last week for a suppressed AR15.

That is a very shocking and distressing article. I lived in NYC for nearly 20 years but it is still shocking, the depths to which their criminal justice system has sunk. Or more fairly, the depths at which it has remained over the years.

But I wouldnt even know where to begin in regards to reforming their mess of a system. I am really surprised that the idea of a "permissive presumption" doesnt offend due process. That seems to stand presumption of innocence on its head. Then again, I live in Florida where people arent bats**t insane.

GHF,

I live in nassau county which is not part of NYC. It does border JFK and you could get a home 2 to five minutes from it (which considering the noise is as close as you would want to be) and not have to bother with the expensive permits and rediculous laws.

Off the top of my head towns to look at:

Valley Stream
Rosedale (parts of it any way)
East Rockaway

Mapquest of JFK area and you'll see
