i just downloaded the cdnn catalog and it said c&r firearms, it had a few rifles then a few shotguns like the saiga and a few others, can i buy thenm with my c&r ffl or do i need to have them shipped to a o1 ffl
thanks,
jon

If there are no state laws prohibiting it, you buy them on your C&R and have them shipped to your door. A couple of states still make C&R handguns go through a 01-FFL.

You might keep in mind that CDNN kind of mixes in the C&R guns with the 01 FFL guns. Make sure that the particular gun you're looking at is listed as C&R eligible. I don't think the Saiga shotguns are.

A C&R Shotgun...

It would have to be:

- Over 50 years old, and not a < 50 y.o. reproduction of a 50+ y.o. model.

If not 50+ years old:

- Considered collectable because of proven provenance to some historical figure or event.

- Certified by a museum armorer, collector, or curator to be of significant rarity or historical interest to be deemed a Curio or Relic.

So could you purchase and have shipped directly to you, a 30 year old shotgun, because you have good provenance that it belonged to John Wayne, or Ronald Reagan etc., on your 03 C&R FFL?

Thereoretically yes.

Would most any 01 FFL be willing to do it? Probably not.

Most, with the exception of the big mail-order houses, AIM, SOG, Century, CDNN, Centerfire, etc. are too scared/confused of regs and the ATF that most will only sell WWII and older milsurp bolt actions, and many stores won't even honor your 03, and make you go through NICS and a 4473 form. :(
