Sorry if this is a dupe, but given the Wal-Mart walk we all do / have done I thought posting in General would be acceptable:

http://www.cfnews13.com/News/Local/2008/9/24/shots_fired_at_casselberry_wal_mart.html

Story:

CASSELBERRY -- Shots were fired inside a busy Seminole County Wal-Mart Wednesday.

Police said it all began after a man robbed a check cashing store on State Road 436.

They said the man then ran into a nearby Wal-Mart.

Police showed up, and that's when they said he started shooting.

A woman inside was injured either from being grazed by a bullet or flying debris.

Shoppers inside said it all happened so fast.

“Well I was coming out by the restrooms by the shoe section and I hear this quick pop, pop, pop," said Brenda Pazar, who witnessed the incident. "An employee came screaming, a female came screaming around right towards me and another employee came down and said ‘get down, get down. Shots are fired.’ So my first concern was I had a 12-year-old son in the toy section. But yeah, it really rattles you.”

The robbery suspect was eventually taken into custody after being Tasered in a field behind the store.

He's now facing a slew of charges.

Any wonder why we all carry in Wally World?

Be safe,

Does anyone find it odd that he was shooting )which to me meant he had a gun) but wound up being tasered.

I wonder who decided a taser was best to use for an armed person?

Of course maybe he dropped his roscoe, or whatever.

The perp probably ran out of ammo so they just tasered him

police were probably excited to get to use their tasers without being hassled for it.

For your thread locking needs especially for walmart threads

It does seem odd that anyone in their right mind would use a pain compliance device on someone who was being chased down for armed robbery and firing in a packed retail store like wally world. Sounds very risky, at least with a firearm you can try again if your first attempt misses, and you are not required to get within a few yards.

Hmmm, I didn't realize mentioning Wal-Mart in a thread was that big of a deal - live and learn, I guess.

I posted this not to attack the store but to illustrate the fact that anything can, and does, happen in ANY large store.

If anybody learns anything from this thread, great. If it's inappropriate somehow the Mods will lock it.

Take care,

Usually its not but almost all threads that even hint of walmart really dont last all that long for one reason or another. ITs just good humor here though.

Wal-Marts have their uses. My city just bought one, planning to remodel it into one of the largest public libraries in Texas.

As the person that will be in charge of the Children's and Young Adult's Departments, I'm looking forward to the challenge!

Problem is, the place has been leased to FEMA for six months, and it took some damage from Hurricane Dolly.

Waiting is a pain!

The cops had to leave their guns in the cars. Policy, you know.

Great policy that needs to be applied other places. Like all other places where the following won't pass:
I thought officers had to sign out sidearms on an as-needed basis?

Maybe the two could be combined. It would read:

You may check out a firearm, but it must be left in the patrol car at all times.

They would then begin to feel the way we feel about gun control.

You know I salute the officers that managed to take a man that had clearly been armed and willing to use force with a taser.
He probably ran out of ammo or dropped the firearm but still.

If they chose to put themselves at risk and managed to take such an individual alive with a taser they are certainly some fine cops. I wouldn't ask or expect that of anyone facing an armed threat, but if they do it they sure deserve thier kudos.
Some fine policework there.

So I am unable to understand everyone mocking them for it.

That's some "common-sense" gun control!

Wal Mart has

codes for things like water spills, lost children, etc. The code for shooting is brown. They have these printed on the back of their ID tags.

Can you imagine?? The ink on your brand new pistol permit isn't even dry, your doing your very first "Walmart Walk" feeling self-conscious about carrying, and in comes a nut job guns a blazin'...

What are the odds?
