I am going to try and load some shotshells for my .38 special and need some guidance. I am unclear as to how best to seat the capsule. My Speer manual mentions a flat-face seater plug and a wadcutter punch, both of which I am unfamiliar with. What is the best shot size 7, 71/2, 8 or 9? Thanks.

I believe I have used whatever punch is in my die. Just try what you have and see if it works OK. Most people find that the smaller (#9) sizes of shot work best in that size cartridge in order to preserve some semblance of a pattern out of a pipsqueak payload and a rifled barrel.
