Should I buy this Glock 17L?

Since you can shoot either a G34 or G35 in any of the gun games wouldn't buying a G35 and then buy a 9mm conversion barrel so that you could have either the 9mm or the .40 make sense?

I've been kind of pining away for either a G17L, a G34 or a G35, but I've heard lots of people throw the conversion barrels and a few parts up as an option.

Any thoughts on that?

You cannot run conversion barrels in a number of classes and in classes where it would be allowed, your only handicapping yourself.. (Major vs. Minor scoring)

Really depends on what class you want to shoot though.

I don't have or want a .40 anything. And, as said, caliber conversion barrels are not allowed in Production or SSP. I don't care to buy big and shoot small.

Cool. Just wondering and this answered my question as to why the practice of converting pistol's to a different caliber is not more widespread.

Any idea of which classes allow it?

I started becoming somewhat of a fan of barrel conversions during the panic.

.40 S&W was one of the few calibers that stayed on the shelf consistently. So while I'm not a big fan of the .40 I'd rather shoot that then not shoot at all.

For a little over $100 I can turn some of my pistols to whatever I want/need to.

Some models and variations are no longer blue label eligible. I don't recall seeing the 17L on the last list of available pistols.

Its a very good combination. I'm pretty sold on good conversion barrels in Glocks.

I've played with the idea of dropping a 357 Sig barrel in a G35 with a mini red dot.

My buddy runs a 40S&W barrel in a G20 with factory mags and G20 spring with no issues.

My question was more about the various gun game rules.

I've owned several conversion barrels (a .40 barrel for a G32, a .40 barrel for a 3rd gen G20SF and four barrels with an H&K-4) never had any trouble with any of them except for the .22LR barrel for the H&K-4 pistol.

So I suspected that they'd work, but if the gun itself with that conversion barrel is disqualified from a match that kinda kills the whole reason I bought it.

Limited, Open-USPSA

It will take a lot more work to the gun to even be competitive in those classes though.
I have a 34 and a 35 and would never use a conversion barrel. Zero advantage and nothing but negatives.

REIGNING THIS IN...

I am only concerned with whether or not Blue Label 17Ls are available at the ~$500 price point, as stated in my OP and in my subsequent posts.

Link to ironcityarmory.com Blue Label prices that include the 17L: https://ironcityarmory.com/glock-blue-label-l-e-pistols/

The gun will be for fun, long-range plinking, and just as a neat thing to own. That's my purpose, I don't like the gun games as of yet - but I do like a fun target gun... I enjoy my 6" 686-1, and the 17L would be along those same lines.

Conversion barrels and the Glock 34/35 models are completely out of scope in this discussion. Please start your own threads instead of hijacking mine.

I think I will just contact Glock directly to see what they have to say since nobody here seems to know.

Being cool, rare, interesting, and/or fun to shoot is a purpose. :)
If you have the cash, go for it.

I guess I’m too practical to spend money on a gun I won’t shoot a lot.

I don’t see me ripping thousands of rounds through a Desert Eagle, So I can’t justify owning one.

Or a Luger. or a Broom Handle Mauser, or a 500 magnum, cool that they may be.

Awesome, thank you. Never really thought of it in the scope of squeezing the most performance out of in and was more focused on whether it would work or not.

Guess I'll go with the G34 in the next couple months then instead of trying that.

Perhaps you should do your own research and not ask the lowly members here next time. Oh, and your link is to info posted August 2015.

I consider posting/searching on forums part of my research, not sure why people are taking my use of bold font personally..it clearly states in the forum rules/guidelines:

"If you can't address the OP's question your post may be deleted to keep from derailing the discussion."

I'm not yelling at anyone, I just wanted to keep the discussion on-topic. I appreciate that others have questions and input regarding similar guns, but I don't see why they are included here. New threads are easy to start, and it keeps things organized. There was a rant posted to the general discussion by a different user who was tired of people not staying focused on the topic(s) presented in the OP. I would expect senior members of the forum to share in a disdain for thread derailment.

And yes, that was the most recent pricing I could find. From what I see so far, the 17L may no longer be offerred as a Blue Label pistol. Ill keep digging when I can and I'll report back.
