After a ton of research and multiple trips to guns shops in two states, I decided to buy a Glock G19 Gen 5 MOS.
They are available online all day long for $599. Through the Blue Label program, they are $100 less, or $499.

I told my dealer that I wanted one and to order it in last week.

Called today to see if it was in and he said there are currently none available and my name has been added to a waiting list. I asked how long before they had one available and he said he had no idea. Could be a couple of weeks or a month. I called the only other blue label dealer within 100 miles and they told me the same thing.

Normally, I'd just wait. I'll be patient and save $100.

But, Washington just passed a new gun bill that goes into effect January 1st. It pretty much puts an end to buying pistols and semi-auto firearms for residents of Washington unless they agree to release all of their medical and mental health records to the local chief of police. You also have to show proof that you passed an approved firearms safety course within the past 5 years.
My local police chief is a petty and corrupt man. He's not getting my records.
So, I can't buy guns anymore until either the law is struck down (currently being challenged by the NRA) or if I sell my house and move.

So basically, I need to get any new firearms within a month.

Anybody have any experience with how long it takes Glock to release pistols? Any precedent? Apparently, the pistol is a hot item and Glock has only made so many. They allocate a set number of pistols for Blue Label purchases and have to produce more to release more pistols.

I have no idea how long this will take and neither does my dealer. It's frustrating. I'd hate to have to spend $100 extra for the same pistol just so I can get one before the new anti-constitutional laws go into effect.

That is pretty much your choice at this point.

Pay the going price and ensure that you get the gun you want or run the risk of not being able to get it at all...depends on what value you put on having the gun you've decided is the one

Usually when Glock runs out of Blue Label guns...which are LE models not allotted to fulfill contracts...the delay is seldom measured in days and commonly measured in months

I'd hate to spend $100 unnecessarily, too. In your shoes, I'd buy now and pay the extra $100. It's almost December now, so your time is very short before the new law takes effect.

Dealer called me today and said his Glock rep contacted him and said there won't be any G19 Gen 5 MOS pistols available until January.

But... He did have 7 available with night sights for $70 more.

I didn't want night sights; I had already ordered a Dawson FO front sight for it. But, it was pay $599 online for a regular sighted pistol, or $569 for a Blue Label version with night sights.

Ordered the one with night sights and it will be ready for pickup on Tuesday.

You made the right choice. Waiting would not have ended well.

I didn't know about that law until just now. If you really want the G19, I say bite the bullet and get one for the extra hundred bucks. You can't go wrong with the G19. That comes from a person who doesn't care for them.

Is that new law for private transfers as well?

Not sure. Right after I bought my house in Washington a few years ago, they passed I-594, which forces all private firearm transactions to go through an FFL. I sold a pistol to a buddy at work. We had to go to an FFL and pay the transfer fee and he had to pass a background check.

Since this new law states that no dealer may deliver any pistol or semi-automatic rifle to any purchaser; I'm assuming that means all private sales are also controlled.

Makes sense to me.
