(1) Although many .22 long-gunmen rarely clean their .22LR rifles, is it the same case for 22LR revolvers? I would think with all that lead (and all that lube) in rimfires, that they’d need to be cleaned as often as centerfire revolvers (I clean mine every time).
(2) Does the same rule apply to .22Magnum revolvers?? Thanx in advance.

I too clean my .22 revolver(S&W617) after every use.

I like to keep my guns looking good & the lead buildup on the face of the cylinder is easier to remove if cleaning is done soon after shooting.

Usually a solvent soaked q-tip around the frame area & a solvent soaked patch followed by a dry one through the bore keeps thing working well.

i probly clean mine more than i need to. its stainless so every spec of powder shows. but hey, hopefully it'll make it last longer.

Clean all my .22s after every outing. A little Flitz on the front of the stainless cylinder of the Smith & Wesson 617 will polish it up like new. After about 2000rounds I’ve even used the Flitz it to remove stubborn lead buildup and polish the inside of the cylinders bores.

The rest are autos (2 -10/22 Ruger rifles and 1 - Browning Buckmark) so a little Kroil and elbow grease polishes them right back up. I’ve also been trying MILITEC-1 dry lube to finish up. Jury is still out on the lube, it’s kind of pricey.

I never put any of my guns away dirty.

I clean any gun after it has been fired, whether pistol, rifle, or shotgun. This does include .22 pistols. My S&W M41 or Marvel Unit 1 always gets a careful cleaning job FROM THE CHAMBER END after being fired.

Good shooting and be safe.

I clean my stainless Single-Six every other time I go to the range. It's a beautiful little gun to look at, and dammit, it needs to be clean!
