Should I complain?

Possum should not be allowed to teach gun anything. It is irresponsible behaviour. A pinhead with a gun willing to shock unprepared people. Yeah, we need more of that. I am surprised so many approve.

I guess the CO gun ban somehow missed those guns; don't worry, they will be banned next year.

"pinhead with a gun"
"Should not be allowed to teach gun anything"

Why, because you were "shocked, and "unprepared"? Being unprepared is not a virtue, and being shocked by unexpected things is a knee jerk reaction.

In fact, I completely disagree with you
I see it that "Possum" wasn't afraid of "shocking" an "unprepared" person like yourself in order to make his very valid point, that unexpected things that are shocking to the uprepared can happen when improper care is used with fireams.
I'll bet there are young kids in that audience that will think twice about fingering an unsecured firearm, knowing there are very real consequences.
Myself, I would be inclined to thank him for making his point effectively and safely. Being PC would be less of a concern to me.

Not a single child who witnesses that show will miss the point. If Possum had everyone plug their ears before he fired, the shock value that drives home the point would be completely lost.

I think Possum deserves our thanks.

That's funny. I said the same thing when I was 32. Now, 30 or so years later, all I have to say is "I sure wish that I had worn ear protection and believed all that hearing loss stuff when I was 32."

Some people can learn from other people's experiences, some have to learn for themself. Your choice.
Did you miss the part where I said that I wear ear protection now? My point was that, more than likely, one gun shot fired outdoors is not going to likely cause hearing damage (at least that what my experience thus far in life tells me and I'm not the only one). Also, who's to say that you didn't lose hearing from riding a mower, driving a truck, etc, etc, etc. Unless firing a gun is the only loud thing you do in your life then there are too many variables to single just that out.

You lose your hearing from all those things. Also, chain saws, motorcycles, weedeaters. My audiologist says most long haul truckers have hearing loss in the left ear from driving with the window open. Over a lifetime, it all adds up.

This aint the good old days RC.

I would be freaking irate. My four year old daughter is a tough little girl and pretty brave. She can already catch bass on plastic worm, and pretty much wants to play in the mud. But, for whatever reason, she is absolutely petrified of loud bangs. It could be gunfire, a hammer inside, fierworks, even a bass drum. We are obviously working on it but she is still a little too young to completely understand. If I would have been at the show it would have ruined my weekend.

I would say you shouldn't "complain" but rather give a helpful suggestion. As you said yourself you enjoyed the show and it had good gun safety for the kids and the whole point of him firing it at the end is to drive the point home. Maybe just give a polite suggestion that he inform everyone to plug their ears before he does it. You don't want the whole show nixed because of it which they may do if they get "complaints".

Thats the answer right there. You mit could even make a bet with the audience...if u think its loaded plug your ears..if you think its empty then dont. Easy fix...this aint brain surgery.

I'd say be grateful that he can still fire off a firearm in order to scare some sense and respect into the young ones.
I seriously doubt anyone is permanently injured here.

let it go.

Really? Should I complain?
There are plenty of things in life that warrant complaining. This is not one of them (at least for me it wouldn't be)
