I have every rifle I'll ever need, NOT every rifle I'll ever want. I don't have any thing in the 30-06 family. A good friend has a circa 1979 Browning BBR 30-06 that is about 99%.....not a scratch and the bluing is fantastic. Less than 50 rounds down the tube. Leupold Vari X II 3 X 9 on top of it that is like new also. He wants $700 Are the older Brownings worth it? Can't find any on GB

BBR?

If that is supposed to be BAR the answer is absolutely yes if you like a semi auto. Personally I'd rather have an A bolt Browning in .30-06 or .308.

It is a fantastic rifle, but I don't believe it is worth quite that much. More like $500-600.00 last I checked...with the condition probably pushing it to the higher end.

:)

The price of the combination is very reasonable. The BBR (Browning Bolt Rifle) is a very nice rifle. In addition, you are getting a Vari XII scope that has a lifetime warranty. I am seeing $500 for the rifle, with base and rings and $200 for the scope. If you think you can find a better deal elsewhere; then this is not a good deal. But, IMHO, it is a good deal.

Want to modify my previous statement, as I didn't take the scope into account. If you like the scope (I don't and would remove it FWIW), then it is a fair deal, not a smokin' deal, just about right. If it were me, i'd offer $600.00 and go from there.

:)

the scope is the wildcard, here. leupold's vari-x2 line has undergone several iterations over its lifetime w/ coatings, adjustment knobs, etc improving each time.

for a used current production vx-2 i'd price it at $225 - 250. if it is an older variation, especially friction adjust knobs, i'd value the scope at $100.

i have zero valuable input for the rifle other than to say i would not pay $700 for the package you are looking at.

good luck!
