Should I expect better accuracy from my M91/30 than my M44?

My K31, Mosin Nagant 91/30 and CZ-52 are scheduled to be delivered today. I purchased the Mosin Nagant more as an afterthought while placing my order for the other two firearms... I saw these 91/30s described on their website as being in VG condition and selling for $59, so I figured why not throw one in.

I am curious what I should expect from this rifle in terms of accuracy. With my Soviet M44, I can get 3-4" groups at best using the iron sights, albeit about 6" high at 100 yards. However, typical groups I'm getting with this rifle averages around 6".
I know I am capable of squeezing better groups from a rifle, as I can typically get groups a third that size with my M96 and 2-3" groups on average with my M48A (which I still feel was an excellent purchase).

I've always loved older military surplus rifles and certainly won't fault this old warhorse if it can't print tighter groups than my M44... but I would like to know if others have noticed any difference in accuracy between the M44 and M91/30 before I take this out to the range.

Thanks in advance.

a good 91/30 should be able to print 2-4 inches at 100 yards. A very good one might print around 1-1.5 inches. A shot-out one would probably do around 6 inches. Your problem is probably the sights on the carbine. The sights aren't very good, and the sighting radius is very short.

Barrel condition has a lot more to do with accuracy than barrel length. There is no way to tell how the 91/30 will shoot, but at that price it is a good bet that the rifles are not the best.

Most K31's, however, have good barrels and shoot very well.
