I was in a local gun store and saw a dan wesson 357 mag w/a 15" barrel and a scope for $601. I am ignorant to dan wesson, but have read up to learn different models and systems as well as company history. I was taken back as I had never seen a 15" barrel and I own some darn large handguns. It looks in good- very good condition and the scope looks descent. Basically is this just a retarded gun and I really really really want it b/c I think its cool, but it turns out it is pretty worthless?!? I read some here and there to see what kinda deal it was. I saw some one say 200-250 for just the barrel. + I assume 100-200+ 4 the scope maybe, and I not sure what acc it comes with. It is on consignment for 601 as stated which I assumes means a firm offer. I intend to call and learn more about model and origin. What should I do. It looks gnarley, but.......

Please any advice is thanked.

I've been looking for a Dan in .44 with the 10". A 357 with the long barrel sounds cool. I have several long revolvers and they all shoot better than I can. I would buy it

I believe some people have said that the 15 inch barrel is pretty rare and pretty expensive themselves. Plus I have head that Dan Wessons are fantastic revolvers. I would jump on it. Plus you could just buy a shorter barrel.

the DW M15 is known for outstanding accuracy because of how it locks up and the tensioned/removable barrel.

the DW .357 used to rule in long range steel shooting

I think I am going to pass. Thank you responders. I think it is just a novelty to me more than anything.

No way to vote - It depends entirely upon WHICH scope. Which scope? You have to know the exact make and model of the scope. And while you're at it, what rings?

Also, is it marked "Monson, MA", or is it a non-Monson DW?

Also, you need to check the lockup/alignment/timing - what's it like?

But quite likely, no it is not worth that much or even close, if it's a cheap scope. Great revolvers, though.

i have no experience with dw firearms, but i will say that the longer barrels are gret. i have a ruger single 6 with a 9 1/2 in barrel, and off a rest it is as accurate out to around 100 yrds as my .22 rifles
