I can't seem to have people tape me at the matches without screwing it up (confusing manual of arms on my camera)...

Is there a way to mount a video camera on my shoulder or on a helmet like the skateboarders do?

Here is a web site that has what you are looking for http://www.helmetcamera.com/. My boss has taken these things on roller coasters and gotten some good action clips with it. Give it a look.

That hosercam looks just like an X-10 mounted inside some earmuffs with a major pricetag attached (comparitively). There are enough small, wireless cameras out there that I am sure you could find one to suit your needs and find a way to mount it to your gear.
here is one at thinkgeek.com: http://www.thinkgeek.com/cubegoodies/toys/59eb/
you just have to find a way to get a recording device that can tune to UHF channel 16 out to the range.

There is also the option of rigging an X-10 up to your gear and they are only $70 or so.
