Show us your wall hangers!!!

This is a Damascus twist Meteor 12 ga SxS shotgun that I recently inherited from my uncle. He is said to have purchased it during his first military leave many decades ago, and it was a favorite of his due to its connection (however distant) to Doc Holliday. I have no idea if he ever fired it, but it's nothing I wanted to try - black powder shells or not.

So it now sits in a shadow box that I made from 100+ year old tulip poplar barn wood from a farm nearby. I picked up a few vintage hunting and shooting pieces, including an unfired vintage all brass shell and a nicely done replica of a pre-1900 shell box. I have to say that I have enjoyed a nice wall hanger more than I would've thought.

So how about posting up your favorite wall piece and sharing any interesting story you might have on it?

That does look pretty cool. I've always liked those old sxs shotguns. I like the newer guns too!

I do not have a gun to hang like that. Maybe I'll start looking around.

Lol, thanks Apachedriver - I like the screen name, but my wife hates it. : D

Thanks for the compliments on the shadow box, in spite of the poor photo. I had planned on running a frame around the edges, but I mis-measured and ended up short on wood and interest in buying more, so that's how it ended up. The good thing about barn wood is that it can still look good even with a mistake or two.

I guess this qualifies. I put this group together close to 35 years ago, but just recently dug it all out of storage and got it cleaned up enough to hang again.

The brass "coins" are reproduction old west cat house tokens I found at a flea market

The engraved Navy .36 and SAA in the upper right are fakes of course. I used to use real pistols, but replaced those with more practical and cheap non-firing replicas I found on EBay.

The arrowheads and scraper (center) I collected when I was a kid growing up in Northeast Arkansas. The area where I lived was rich in sites where one could find these with almost no effort. I used to have at least 5 shoe boxes full, but my old man gave most away while I was in the service. Sigh!

The 1855 Horse pistol and shoulder stock were imported by Navy Arms and is still functional. I recently removed the ugly factory plastic finish and put a nice stain and satin oil finish on them.
