As you may have noticed I am new around here and to the gun owning world. As I look around and watch the recent events unfolding around me, I live in Baton Rouge, La., I am becoming even more in touch with protection my family. I have a new XD 40 SC loaded with Hydra-Shoks that we bought for home protection and will be purchasing a couple Bersa Thunder 380's shortly for CCW. With that said, on to my original questions.

I see all the posts about SHTF guns and bug-out kits and the like. This has me slightly concerned that I am not at all prepared in case we have to run. Where can I get good information on what I should put in a kit, how much ammo I should have, what kind of weapons, etc? Are there any good articles somewhere, books, a forum just on S Hitting TF?

I am an average sized guy, slightly portly in the middle. I have a hard enough time finding pants that fit comfortably without having to consider buying them another 2 sizes up to accomdate that arm and holster. I am confident enough in my shooting ability that a few shots from a 380 will put down anyone that bothers with me.

I would recommend that you buy one pair of cheap jeans to give you an idea of which you would carry iwb and see if you want to modify your future purchases. In my case, all my pants but 2 are sized for carry and work well when I'm not carrying. Suits are the hardpart. Good luck.

Isaac - I have, carry, and love my PM9 but its not for everyone. For one, it's pretty small and some folks find the Bersa easier to shoot. The other thing is that its pretty expensive - the Bersa is about half as much. I do love my Kahr though.

Small hammerless revolvers in .38 or .357 are good pocket guns as well - worth consideration. Reliable, hard hitting rounds, comfy.

Phaetos - I have found good stuff on THR but check this out as well:
