SHTF Rifle--what about a .22?

It it's some TEOTWAWKI situation with me alone against a hostile wilderness, the .22 has a lot to recommend it, and I won't bother adding to the excellent lists already provided. However, the SHTF scenario I'm most worried about (because it's most likely to happen) involves having to fight our own military and police. In that case, I'd want something that can reach out and punch through body armor. Some sort of .30 cal rifle and FMJ cartriges. I have a bad foot and can't run anyway, so weight probably doesn't make a lot of difference.

I know I'd probably be dead pretty fast against trained troops, but at least I'd try to make them a little timid for the next guy.

A very accurate .22 pistol in the right hands could be very useful, takes little space and weighs little as well. Some of the most fun I've had is shooting rabbits with an old High Standard.

If you have a family or friends around then there are going to be extra hands for a .22 rifle.

That was my first thought... I think it's too early to tell, but if it is Hardin, it'll become quite obvious.
