Which one makes the most difference in recoil? I chose the Kaw Valley linear for my 450 Bushmaster AR build because of the extra noise of the side discharge. How many of you have tried both, and what are your thoughts?

I installed linear comps on my ARs a month or so ago. They seem to help more with muzzle rise than recoil, and of course concussive noise. The typical muzzle breaks seem to help with recoil more.

I found little recoil reduction when using a linear comp on my 6.5cm or 7mm rem mag. I've also noticed little benefit behind the rifles (as compared to a bare muzzle). I've had othere people comment on how much less they are affected by the blast even from a bare muzzle. Take of a muzzle brake, and install a blast forwarding device, and everyone around will thank you.

On my .458 Socom I didn't really notice much of a recoil reduction WITH the brake installed. It was a radical panzer brake and may not have been the best design. I don't know enough about them to have a real opinion there.

I’ve tried the 450 with and without the linear comp, and there is definitely a difference. Not a bunch, but my shoulder can feel it. I’m currently building a 16” 450, and have a flash hider for it. This will be a hunting rifle with a Lancer A2 length carbon fiber stock and free float tube. I hunt from wooden blinds, and might be better with linear comps.

Took a friend to the range with me, and his 5.56 AR had a VG6 brake. That thing was deafening! My 450 was a pussycat compared to his

...may not have been the best design.

My Four Fifty Bushmaster upper came with that Panzer style brake, though my shoulder says otherwise...:)

Though I imagine they do reduce recoil, I think their primary purpose is to look the part.

I love my VGsix, too,@303 hunter! Works great! I said it works GREAT!

I have vg6 gammas on my 7mag and 6.5. Nobody likes sitting next to me when those come out.....they will burn up all my ammo given a chance tho.

There are some quieter designs, and radials usually arnt as loud I think, BUT a radial will blow crap all over you when shot prone, and will knock your stuff off your bench if your not careful where u put it.

That does sound like a good use for a linear comp.
Having touched off an AR carbine out the passenger window, from the drivers seat of my old Ford, I have no interest in doing anything similar with a muzzle brake or flash hider again....ever.

Lol, yeah the panzer brakes sure do look cool tho...I bet the like 6oz they add is where the recoil reduction is lol. The vg6s do seem to work well, and they arnt the nastiest brakes I've ever heard.
