That looks like the blood trail from a heart shot deer. Wish I had a picture of the blood trail from the doe I took with my bow and a 100 grain Thunderhead. Perfect heart shot from an elevated stand. The deer never knew what hit it and only made it about 50 yards before collapsing.

Not a big fan of soft cup and core bullets. I want a bullet that opens up all the way out to 400 yards and stays together. I have shot the 110 Accubond into deer as close as 40 yards with a 257 Weatherby. The only one that I recovered was a hit on the point of the shoulder. It popped at 6"X 2" hole in the ribs and was stopped at the pelvis. The bullet retained 67% of it's weight. That is what I want in a bullet.

One bambi that I shot with a 90 gr BT out of my 243 went 60 yards. I hit it broadside on the shoulder and the bullet went to pieces. The shoulder and ribcage was totally bloodshot and I don't remember an exit. This was on a 50 lb fryer. I can't imagine what it would have done on a 200 lb buck. You can keep your cup and core bullets. I don't want any part of them.

I agree, I'm slowly migrating to bonded bullets for small bores and hard cast for big bores. I think cup and core bullets can work really well in their velocity sweet spot, but any time your going over about 2800 fps or may need to go through bone its time to look at a bonded bullet. In the grand scheme of my hunting expenses its a pretty small impact to my budget.
