I want to load up some 125 grain pills for my 300 blackout. Bullet availability is not too good right now, as you know. I have some Hornady 308 cal 125 gr SSTs on backorder. I've shot those and like them. Anyway, I found some Sierra Pro Hunter 125gr soft points that are available. I read somewhere, I can't remember where :banghead:, that the 125 grain soft points may be too short for an AR. The Sierra 125 gr is .879 inches long. Has anyone loaded the Sierra .308 cal 125 gr soft point for their 300 blackout AR?

I have shot 100 or so Speer 130 Gr SPs in 300 BLK loaded to 1.885 OAL. They have fed 100% so far. Unfortunately my gun does not shoot them particularly well.

The Speer is .815 long, so the Sierra should be a little better than that OAL wise. I think they will work.

My gun shoots them well also.

Thanks for the reply, Walkalong. With today’s lack of availability, you have to do a lot more research before ordering components to load for a new firearm. I remember the “good old days” when you could buy a few different bullet styles and a few different powders, without mortgaging the house and waiting a year, to see what your new gun liked.

Yes, I've shot a lot of the 125 gr. Sierra Pro Hunters. My barrel likes them a lot. I load at 2.050" and they feed flawlessly.

Best.
