Hello all, I recently purchased a Sig 1911 tac-ops. I love the gun so far, great sights & trigger. I wanted to get a few more magazines for it, so I bought some Wilson Combat tactical 8 rounders. when I got home they would not lock into place. Any ideas why? I am not real fond of the stock Sig mags, I have had quite a few miss-feeds with them. Any ideas would be great

Perhaps something is out of spec with the gun's magazine catch or something, if a Wilson mag will not even latch into place. This might also explain your misfeeds. Although one or two misfeeds are forgivable in the first couple of hundred rounds, any kind of consistent stoppages are unacceptable. IME, Sig will pick up the shipping tab by sending you a UPS shipping label.

but the gun works fine with stock mags???...perhaps the SiG doesn't like the particular Wilson's you bought...(I had this issue with Wilson's and my Springfield Mil-Spec years ago)...I use SiG stock (believed to be Checkmate) with Tripp Research conversions (to 7 rounders), Tripp Research 8 rounders and MetalForm round top followers with Wolff extra springs (7 rounders) with no issues...good luck with your pistol.

Will they lock into place with the slide back?

Often 8 round mags will take some extra effort to seat when the slide is forward. The reason is there is less room for the spring to compress in a traditional (if you can call an 8 round mag traditional) 8 round mag. The newer extended tube 8 rounders such as the Wilson ETM and Tripp CobraMags will usually seat fine.

Load it up and let it sit for a day or week or two. After a while you should be able to seat the mag, though probably not as easy as you can seat a 7 rounder.

I have a Sig 1911 TacPac (same base pistol) and although I favor Chip McCormick 8rd Power Mags, the factory mags have worked well with various factory RN and reloaded plated RN and lead SWC bullets.

Are you having problem with factory or reloaded ammunition? If you are having feed issues with factory ammunition, I would contact Sig customer service.

I haven't had any problem with mag not locking in place, even with a friend's RIA mags. I would also mention that issue with Sig customer service.

Does the tac ops have the hogue Integral magwell grips like the Sig Scorpion? If so, the plastic slam pad on the new mags might be a tad too wide and need to ba shaved. I had to shave my 10 round plastic mag slam pads to make them work on the Scorpion or the other 1911s I have with a magwell.

Sniper X, here's a comparison picture of Scorpion/TacOps
