Well I don't have that model of SIG 1911 I do carry the SIG RCS 1911 a CCO sized pistol. I have shot a few 3" 1911 and they are usually heavy for their size. With the Bull barrel the Ultra is just 1.5 oz less than a 4.2 inch model. What I can tell you is this, only 2 other 1911s in my collection shoot as well as the SIG RCS, a S&W 1911 PC and my STI Custom shop 9mm. I will probably never (I know never say never) buy a 3" 1911, but if it works and shoots half as well as my SIG RCS it would make a fine carry pistol. I feel that the .45 from less than a 4" barrel does not have enough vellocity to get the job done. That 3" 1911s have had a checkered history, can I trust them, I don't. Do you need the shorter barrel for concealment or the shorter grip? The CCO sized C3 and RCS have the "Officers"/compact frame, but with a "Commander" length slide and barrel. Proportionaly the CCO sized pistols are like a Government model, just 3/4" smaller in length and height. I wish I did have some experience with the SIG Ultra, but if I was to get a 3" 1911 pistol, SIG and STI would be on the short list.

I already have a Sig Nightmare carry, and the 3" barrel size is enough smaller to make it easier to conceal in womens' clothes. I have fired a Kimber ultra carry, and the nightmare plus my p229, so I'm pretty confident in Sigs, but more info is always good.
Th e barrel length is key, I think. Weight isn't as important to me unless the thing is a brick.

Well I did get off the fence and I bought it.It shoots very well for me. It conceals well on me in a dark tee and shorts. I use the clipdraw so its in the console in a second when driving. The trigger is the best ive ever shot. Its my third 1911 and my first is 93 years old. My second was a Springfield Champion made in Brazil. It was junk. I spent 10 years with thatone. I am so glad its gone. The Sig wasnt as preety as others but its grown on me and I wasnt after looks. I wanted reliable. Ive only put 300 rounds through it but have had no malfunctions yet. Thats 275 more rounds than my Springfield would of given me. Holsters might be an issue.
