Several weeks ago I traded for a very slightly used SIG 220R. It is marked "Made in Germany" on the slide and has the stamped slide. It also has the Hogue rubber grip pannels. It took me awhile to get to the range due to a change in jobs and a move but I finally got to shoot her.

I took the p220 out to a public range in Bismarck last night. I had to wander around for an hour to find the place, but it is a very nice outdoor area with target backer boards set up, and best of all--Free. As an aside, if you're the new guy in town, you may want to get better directions than "just past the Airport a few miles and you can't miss it". It's farther than that, and you can and you will.

I had a box of Remington 230grn JHP, so that's what went down range. I shot at about 40' to see where the sights were hitting and quickly found out that the the front sight was way to the right, causing hits about 5-6" left of POA. Elevation was dead on.

I moved up to about 25' and shot some rapid doubles and hammers. The gun recoils straight up and tracks right back down for me. No hickups in function during the test. With an 18# recoil spring in place (the prior owner gave me 3 wolfe springs--16, 18, and 20#) the empties were landing consitently about 6 feet out and slightly back.

My Observations: This thing shoots pretty well for me. I thought initially that the feel was too "big", but I can't complain about how the pistol pointed and recoiled. Sights stayed alligned easily. One rapid fire string of 2 mags at 20' made a nice 4" group with a few fliers. I noticed I began focusing on the target and missing the front sight which could have contributed--I just need to get out more.

I do need to try to find a Short Trigger to install. DA pull is a far reach for my stubby finger. I'm also going to ditch the Hogue rubber grips for plastic factory grips which should be somewhat thinner.

In the spirit of "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?".... She's a keeper--She's bona fide.

Now I just need a trigger, some grips, and a name for her.
