I have had the Kimber now for about 2 weeks and have done some mods since then.

First thing I did was put an ambi safety on it since Im left handed. Also put some Hogue rubber grips with finger grooves on. These work great on my BHP so I figured I'd try them on the Kimber.

Took it to the range and put 100 rounds thru it. The original magazine follower (metal) put a couple dings in the frame just like it was reported on the 1911forum under Kimber.

Shot 230 gr ball ammo and didnt have any problems. Also shot some 200 gr +P Speer ammo also without any problems. The Speer seemed to be impacting just a bit right of center at 20 yds. Everything else was inside the 9 ring. Speer was too just a little right as reported earlier.

Second trip was another 100 rounds of 230 ball ammo from the coveted Winchester White box. All fed well but did have a couple of ejected casings hit me int he forehead. Think it was me limp wristing it though. I took the Hogue rubber grips with finger grooves off cause I wasnt getting a good grip on it either.

Last night I put a new Wilson #22 lb recoil spring in it and replaced the original mag spring and follower with a Wilson set up. Also took the Hogue grips off and put the originals back on. I like it better that way.

At the range today I had one FTF on some reloaded 230 ball ammo I got from the gunshow. Stuff is pretty weak. I also shot 20 Speer Gold Dot JHP 200 gr +P ammo without a hiccup. This stuff cycled fine and impact was the Bull at 20 yds. I think the grip had something to do with it since I put the original panels back on and I just about shot the bull out of the target with 70 rounds. (50 of the reload stuff and 20 Speer)

I have some PMC .45 (50 rounds) that I will be shooting this weekend as well as the reloads (50 rounds) from the gunshow. If all goes well then the Kimber is going to take the G19's place.

So far I like it alot. The trigger is sweet and recoil is fine. Sights are easy to pick up and point of aim is easy to acquire. I have a Galco IWB Royal Guard to carry it in and a Bianchi leather 2 mag belt holder for the 8 round Wilson Combat mags.

Carry ammo for now looks like its gonna be the Speer Gold Dot JHP 200 Gr +P. Specs on it are showing it producing 518 ft lbs of energy at the muzzle and it is cycling fine and accuracy as well as follow up shots are above acceptable to me.

I too have a new Pro Carry. Well it is pretty new. Got it in Sept 03, but haven't really had a chance to shoot it more than a few times. No problems whatsoever, and that is using the stock Kimber mag....
