Belorussia and Ukraine are 100% in Europe, and they use the Makarov.
So it is probably true, that in the territory of European continent the most frequently used service handgun is the Makarov. Not the SIG P225 at all.
Even the Beretta M92 is used by larger number, as service pistol of Italian LE and Armed forces and French forces, too (French are under arming to SIG SP2022s although).
