I am getting ready to buy a new 45acp, I only have one 45acp and I have quite a few 9mm's so I need another 45 to balance my collection, plus I shoot the 45 better than the 9mm.

I have narrowed it down, I think, to the M&P 45 or Sig 320 45.

What say you?

The P320 has gotten pretty good reviews. However, the .45 ACP version, if is even available, has practically no track record. The M&P has been around for a while and the .45 ACP version has a pretty good reputation, and a long list of holster makers producing holsters for it.

If buying today, I'd certainly pick the M&P .45. In two years, maybe I'd make a different decision.

I too have found myself down a .45. Only my dilemma is that I can't decide between a full size p320 or a standard fnx-45.

I know they are different animals, but I like both brands and both types of actions. I'm looking for a big gun for the range and HD.

I HAD a MP45. Typical TERRIBLE S&W trigger. Apples & Oranges Brother! Go Sig, NO look'n back!

The M&P was probably my favorite striker fired pistol but I always figured I would have to add an aftermarket trigger or have some trigger work done on it. Even the Pro Series trigger, out of the box, did not suit me.

The Walther PPQ and HK VP9 came out with very good triggers but I didn't like the ergos as much as I liked the Smith's.

A Sig rep hosted a "demo day" at a local range a few months back. I thought I would try the 9mm P320 as I had read it has a good trigger. I was impressed and would rate that gun's trigger as excellent. Supposedly this was a stock gun but no way to be sure.

I borrowed a friend's P320 Compact (also in 9mm) and shot it in a couple of matches. I know his gun is stock and its trigger was very good, although not as nice as the demo gun's.

Recently I purchased a full size P320 9mm. I was not allowed to dry fire it before purchasing it. My gun's trigger was only so-so compared to the other two I had tried. I gave it to a local gunsmith for a little polishing (no aftermarket kits available yet).

P320 is too new. Some issues are popping up...let SIG work through them. Therefore, go with the M&P.

I have an M&P 45 midsize and it's a good gun. The trigger isn't the best but it's not that bad.

I also have a Sig P320 9mm. It's an exceptional gun with a terrific trigger.

There's not a doubt in my mind the Sig P320 45 will be fine too.

I believe you made the right decision.
