i dont like the new slide profile on the p229, the serations on the newer model make it look like a smaller p226. the old slide made the p229 unique and distinguished from its other sig models. i'll stick with my p229 and not trade for a newer model

never trust those msrp's :D I still miss my sig. I wouldn't have sold it if my finger could reach the DA w/o changing my grip

I'm interested to see one in person. On all the classic Sig models, my thumbs rest on the slide stop, causing me to inadvertently activate it at times. Because of that, I wouldn't trust a Sig as a serious defensive handgun. If this E2 adaptation changes where my thumbs rest, I may well buy a 229.

I welcome it. The one thing I didn't like about my P228 was its large grip and excessive reach to even a "short" trigger. However, the Glock 19 and CZ PCR I already have cover my current needs.

Interesting. I feel that the DA trigger reach on my CZ-75B is very long. My Sigs seem to be much better.

Reducing the "waist" makes a whole lot of sense to me...

Look at the CZ design, most notably the Bren X (Fortis) and the Witness models. The BHP employs a similar yet less radical pattern. The vaunted SA XD also uses this profile. I agree SIG has made some poor choices in terms of development and marketing over the last couple of years, but I don't lump this one in with the others. The SIG profile, while "comfortable" for many (including me) but I think this new grip pattern will open the doors for SIG to make a little headway into markets where not everyone has ape sized hands.

I have always believed that gun owners are a stubborn lot and HATE any kind of change (just a stab at myself). This may turn out to be one of SIGs better moves.

The MSRP for the current P226s and P229s w/night sights is $1050 MRSP so the differential is only $99 MRSP, probably less street price.

MSRP of $1,149.00

wow, no thanks. I'll keep my w. German bone stock 226.

With all due respect, if you are buying guns at the MSRP... the folks at your local gun shop/store must love it when you walk in the door. I certainly hope you don't buy cars that way.

Prices are going to vary from region to region and the market in your region will ultimately be determined by the demand of the market locally and nationally. That said, no one should really ever pay MSRP. I would think that you should be able to find these new SIGs at pretty much the same price other P226 varients go for.

I'm glad they're doing something to improve the ergonomics. That's one of the things that has kept me from buying a Sig....I never really thought the controls on them felt like they were in the right place for me. Maybe these are better. We'll see.

3 mags?

I read somewhere that they will come with three (3) magazines. Does anyone know if this is true?

I don't really like Sig but was thinking that looks good then I seen the price & remembered I don't really like Sig.
