Hello everyone,
New to the forum, but loving some of the threads/info on this board.

Question about a rifle I currently own.
I have a Sig Arms SHR 970 in 300 Win Mag. I bought the rifle a couple of years ago from a good friend for $250. I was skeptical as to the price, but the guy my friend got it from didn't like the "feel". His loss, my gain because I love the "feel" of this rifle. I used the rifle for two hunting seasons(currently third season) and the 300 has dropped every deer I've shot :)D no tracking!!).
Now to my problem (or blessing): I want another rilfe and I have the funds. I've been looking at some Tikka rifles and can't wait to shoot one. If I did buy the Tikka, I would probably get a .270. BUT, with the Sig I can buy a new barrel, bolt, & mag in 270 for about $100 less than a new Tikka. I would also save money because I wouldn't have to buy a new scope. Also, once I bought the new bolt & mag, I can buy barrels for other calibers for about $350. The bolts & mags for the Sig come in magnum & standard calibers; the magnum barrels comes in 300 Win Mag & 7 mm Mag and the standard caliber barrels range from .243 up to .308(too many to list).
So far, I have not met anyone who owns a SHR 970 and don't know if it's worth investing the additional money for other calibers. Also, the reviews that I read about the Tikkas are always good review, but again I don't know anyone who has bought and used one, so I'm not totally sold on the Tikkas.
Sorry about the long rant, but any input on either rifle would be appreicated.

Thanks,
JMS
