You may find this interesting. When I called Sig customer service I explained I needed a manual. I also told her the grip screws (4) had minor surface rust. She said she would also send four new screws free of charge. Neat! Well the mail just arrived from Sig. Got a manual and NO screws. Hmmm, do you think she lied? I'm not getting a good feeling here. :(

Not getting a good feeling...you were offered a free manual and screws (which they are under no obligation to provide for free) and you're now wondering if she lied and you don't have a good feeling? You know that the person you talked to on the phone isn't the actual person who packs and ships the parts? Maybe something was not in stock, shipped in another package, overlooked by the shipping dept, told by her manager she could not give free screws on a 9 year old gun, etc.

You might want to give her a call back and inquire about this before posting here with your "do you think she lied, I'm not getting a good feeling here".

I also recommend you stick to new guns with a warranty from now on as you're expecting way too much on a gun from the used market.

I hope it works out for you as you now own an outstanding handgun which will give you many years of excellent service once Sig takes care of the supposed problem.

Sig has been great to me. They've shipped free parts to me, they have helped me diagnose a problem over the phone...I've not had to ship to them, but I have shipped a brand new gun to:

Ruger - a P97 with a frame problem...shipped it TWICE before they fixed it.

Springfield - An XD40SC that they didn't really fix...and a 1911 Champion that they didn't even field strip to look at. They ran a magazine through it and said everything looked fine...the problem was INTERNAL galling.

CZ... a pin inside the gun broke freezing the works.

In ALL of those cases I had to pay shipping. Only in the case of the CZ did the problem get fixed correctly. All of those cases the gun was brand new, I was the first owner. In all of those cases I paid about $40.00 to ship the gun. I paid $80-90 for the Ruger because they didn't fix the thing the first time. I sold both springys cause I got tired of playing around.

You get a USED sig and you complain about shipping, even if they may reimburss you? S&W may do better, so may Glock, if that's the case I recommend you stick with them. More for me... I don't find Sig unreasonable at all. Any company that will repair a 9 yr. old used gun and offer to potentially cover shipping, or send a free part or even perform the work for free (gunsmiths cost money you know) is pretty decent in my eyes.

This is an intersting thread. I have bought four Sigs and sent two back to the factory for minor issues. In both cases, Sig performed the work immediately upon receipt and overnighted the pistols back to my home free of charge.

I have to conclude that at some point, there must be a reasonable product age cutoff for this service in a for-profit company, even one as customer-oriented as Sig.

If your approach is to hear one person's negative experience, and conclude that: "I was not aware that was SIG's policy. That will make a diference on my next purchase," I suppose that is certainly your perogative in this great country of ours!

FWIW

all I have to go off is their custom shop work, I thought it was fine, my 229 has a wonderful trigger now and that gun will always be a keeper.

I bought two new S*gs this year, they carry 1 year warranty.
HK has lifetime warranty.

by the way OH25shooter, if you post this story in sigforum, you are the bad guy. ;)

Just because a company has a lifetime warranty doesn't mean their customer service is good.

I'll add: I just shipped a Ruger Mark II I bought used at a show back to Ruger. The trigger will not engage.

While I had to provide and pay for shipping on my own, the tech at Ruger indicated he'll fix the pistol and replace the parts at no cost to me, even though I'm not the original owner. That probably cancels out the costs of shipping, and then some.

Goodness gracious....
Seems you're taking this a bit personally.
Are you a Sig dealer?

I was just pointing out your error in sig's warranty. There is no need for you to bark back. Do you even own a Sig?
personally, I have never used hk's warranty, that's because all 4 of them works out of the box, and when I needed some springs, HK provided FREE springs for me.
