I am thinking of sending my Sig 226 9mm to the Sig Custom Shop to have the Action Enhancement Package done to it. I want to use it as both a range gun and a home defense weapon. However, I don't want to make the trigger so light that it poses any risk for using it as a home defense weapon.

Any thoughts from anyone who has had this done to their 226?

I believe they install the short reset trigger into the gun when they do this. I had a Sig 229 elite dark that came from the factory with this trigger and it was very nice. It was a smooth clean break and it was definitely not too light. Probably around 4.5 pounds, but I am just guessing.

It is not advisable to have a lightened trigger on your CCW. If you want a target handgun, keep it target.

After taking one of their Armorer's classes, I did it myself on an old LEO trade-in I'd snagged. Awesome.

It's not going to be "dangerously light". It's going to break cleaner and be more accurate. You'll like the trigger job.

The Action Enhancement Package (AEP) is a good value to clean up you action, but don't think iit is an action tune that will lighten your trigger pull much is at all. It is mostly about smoothing rough spots and checking alignment of surfaces.

The Short Reset Trigger (SRT)...not to be confused with the Short Trigger; as it only affects the reset in SA...isn't normally a pack of the AEP. I have seen it packaged as part of a Special, but it is normall an added cost option.

The SRT can be very helpful if you have the skill to utilize it at speed. If not, it is much more of a feel good item

I've been reading Massad Ayoob's Gun Digest Book of Concealed Carry. He has spent a large portion of his career in the courtroom listening to and participating in legal action involving guns and self defense. Whether you are referring to a Concealed Carry gun or a Home Defense gun, he suggests lightening the trigger pull on either can cause additional angst in a courtroom. Why risk it?

Ayoob is a professional expert witness for the defense in justifiable homicide cases. If he fails to convince certain people, for us reasoning with them is pointless.
