Is there any reason that I shouldn't disassemble the slide and clean the firing pin? Anything tricky to it, or something I need to be aware of?

I'm used to doing it with my 1911's, but have never done it with a Sig, and want to make sure there are no special considerations I need to know about.

By any chance does anyone have a link with disassembly instructions (beyond mere field stripping)?

Unless you had some major junk that got into your firing pin channel there is no reason to take it part on a Stainless Slide Sig. On a stamped steel slide you really don't need to, but you don't have to replace the pins after every use like on the Stainless slides.

The best guide on how to take apart a Sig would be Chris Orndorff's DVD you can buy it from Top Gun Supply (including parts, and tools to work on Sigs).

You can also take the Sig Armorers course, unlike most other companies Sig offers it to civilians.

+1000 for the DVD course and Top Gun Supply, I knew less than nothing about Auto pistol internals and recently successfully (successful in that I got it back in and operational ;)) removed the lock block to clean out underneath there due to the DVD. And Top Gun is a great store!

Also for firing pin removal it really depends on if you have the stamped steel slide or the stainless, if you have stainless go with the advice he gives in the DVD regarding the 239.
