Sig is doing a 10% off sale today locally..and I have been eyeing a sigp229 stainless elite for some time now but not too seriously. the gun is 1k so 900 with the sale. Wife says if I want it for Christmas to go for it. Does anyone think the elite is worth it over the standard 229? With the sale the regular 229 or 226 would be about 650 new which is approaching used prices. Am I crazy to spend extra on the elite? Does anyone have one and what features do you like about it? The sale ends today so I need to decide what to do. Thanks for your help.

How long are you going to be alive? As a customer long ago told me, "treat yourself". Who cares what others opinions are. If you buy it, you likely have some "buyers remorse" but that will go away when you sit in front of the TV fondling your new possession for a few hours. Personally, I love my Sig 226 enough that I spent a $115 on some G10 grips last week. Did I need them, hell no. Do I like them Hell yes. Now you make me I think I "need" a 229 to keep it company.

BTW, Great wife you must have. Spend time with her, then the gun.

You only go through this life one time and one of the worst things you can do is put yourself in a "I wish I had......" situation. I have a few of my own and I hate it when things remind me of any of them. The simple fact is if you want it and can afford it, why not buy it?

Your wife sounds like mine and that makes us both lucky men. Don't disappoint her ... buy it. :)

The SIG Stainless Elites are beautiful pistols. They are also hefty and soak up the recoil having the stainless steel frame. $900 is a terrific price for a SSE. They go for about $1180 at my LGS.

I say GO FOR IT!!

Yes it worth it.
The grip and srt are great features. I really like my Sig Sauer 226 Elite. 229 in stainless sounds even better. I have been trying to get hold of one in 40.

Just got it home. Pics to follow. The workmanship and overall styling of the gun is impressive.

It will outlast you. Good choice. If you absolutely hate it, PM me. But you won't hate it so post pics instead, and hug your wife. ;)

Thanks Plan2Live. I really love it. In fact I have handled other 229s and 226s and the beaver tail on the Elite really makes it feel like a different gun (to me). 95% of the guns I have purchased in the past were "per-owned" and usually picked up because they were the best deal/value. This is one of the first guns I have purchased where the decision was purely based on what I wanted and not on what I needed/value. I'm glad I made the decision to pick this one up and I appreciate all the encouragement. Here's another pic.

Great buy! I love the ergos on my SIG P229E2, and with the addition of a SIG STL900 laser/light combo, it's my principal HD gun.
