SIG Forum?

My computer crashed and burned a while back and I had to re-join/re-build
contacts. The SIG Forum was one of those that I wasn't able to regain access.

Now, when I try to join again, the join bot program will not recognize any '...@gmail', '...@hotmail', or '...@yahoo' address.

Does anyone out there in radio-land have any suggestions as to how I can overcome this 'Catch-22' hurdle?

post #3. My older, 'for real', once welcomed address was a '[email protected] . Entities have been bought and swaped around a bit. So '...@sbc global. net is now '...@yahoo.' which isn't currently recognizedby the registration bot.

Speaking as an electronically challenged neanderthal dummy, how is a 'real' address obtained if not from Google, Mixrosoft, or Yahoo (which was aka att.com, sbcglobal.net).

Suggestions appreciated.

If that much trouble then I suggest living without it. I dont know why they have made it such a big deal. Most of the people dont have emails other than gmail yahoo etc

Agreed. I tried to join and they don't want me because of who I have my email through????? Their loss

I have a 228 that I really, really like. So, it made sense to join the SIG Forum. I'm just trying to regain access.

They let me in. Thanks for the suggestion.

The SIG Forum registration bot still 'bans', (that is their word choice, not mine) g mail, y mail, and hotmail addresses.

It's been a while since I've been over at sig talk. I'm talking years. But if it is currently like it was when I had life happen, they're a good bunch of folks.

This 228.....is it an original or one of the M11 types? There are minute differences and some folks get rather upset calling a M11 a P228. LOL. I say if you like it, you like it.
 
osteodoc: I am recovering from a sub-talor fusion performed by one of your partners-in-crime.

I dunno if it is a M-11 or? I can offer serial number/inspection stamps if it'd help in identification.

One of my wayward kiddos a dozen or so years back was issued a 228. It made sense for me to get one. If, for nothing else, to prevent snarky comments from a disrespectful child.

I had the SIG spring/sight upgrade and short reach and reset surgery done on the SIG. I now out snark wayward kiddo #2.:neener:

Sigforum has never allowed free mail accounts. It makes it easier on their staff, of 3 moderators, because if there is a problem member it is harder to get around a ban.

It is a very different experience than here, their have a different culture and a different bond.

Just as an aside, there is no problem with recommending alternative forums that the OP can look at for information, but we do not allow forum wars or forum bashing here
 
Saltydog- I wish you a speedy recovery. If you bought it years ago it is likely a true, bonifide P228 and assuming it is a W Germany P228, it is "collectable" to sig collectors and highly sought after. The M11 is a newer model and kinda blends the P229/228. If you google it, you will find plenty of minutia on the differences. I am considering a M11 in my future.

9mm epiphany- Yes sir. No forum bashing here and wow, I didn't realize there were only 3 moderators on SigForum. That's a huge undertaking for only 3 mods.
 
OP, I suffered the same restrictions as you describe. It wasn't until I got internet access via my cable company and the email address that came with it that I was able to connect with them.

It was the first time I experienced such a restriction. But heh, their site, their rules and it's not like they expect you to pay dues.

Good site regardless.

I think you made a very valid concern towards the end of your post. Perhaps time to put this to rest.

The bashing reference wasn't directed at you, sorry if it sounded like that

There was another comment, which has been removed, which attacked the Administrator of that forum
