Sig make P220 without rail anymore ?

does Sig make the P220 without a rail anymore ?

The only one I see on their site is the P220 Carry SIG Anti-Snag™ Pistol (P220 Carry SAS). I'm guessing it is a money saving measure by Sig to produce just one type of frame for all their different models.

I don't think so. I haven't been keeping up, so somebody else with direct knowledge will probably jump in soon.

I strongly dislike the rails. So much so I will not buy a new Sig with rails.

I just don't like the way they look. I'm sure they shoot as well as ever.

All SIG-SAUER/SIGARMS classic P-series weapons are now built with the rail,
NO exceptions~!

you can find CPO's w/o rail. Most of them will look almost new. And they are cheaper that a brand new Sig.

I've been trying to get my hands on a P220 SAO, but I'm sad it'll have a rail.

Just picked up a 220 SAO, and yes sadly it has a rail. I just the trade-off isn't too bad other than I'll need some new holsters as the 220R doesn't fit the 220 holster very well. Sweet trigger pull for a factory job.

I just (a couple of hours ago) got a chance to handle a P220 SAO at Texas Guns. I was VERY impressed. As you said, excellent trigger, and Sig must have gotten the errors worked out of the safety, because it was very positive going on and off. I loved it. If the rail really offended an owner, they could just have it machined off and get the frame refinished.

Actually my only real issue was that every time I moved my strong-side thumb up to disengage the safety, the web of my thumb slipped over the vestigial beavertail.

I also got a chance to handle a 226 Elite. That pistol felt amazing in my hands.

Not to highjack the thread, but the Elites are very nice. My P220 DA/SA is going to Sig for the short reset trigger as soon as it's offered in March.

I'm a sigman through and through and I've been watching the last of the RAIL-LESS P series work their way through the shops. If you have the money in hand and go shopping you can still find them but man you really have to be looking.

To my knowledge the P220 SAS is the only one without a rail now. But I hear that in the next year those will too.

My apologies for possibly jacking the thread but does anyone know if the P220 is going to be "elite"-d anytime soon? I've got an expected check with my tax return and I want a NEW SIG BAD! It's been too long! I'm thinking the P229 to round out my collection but if I could get a P220 Elite? WHOW. That almost makes me want to go take a cold shower!

That doesn't sound right. The rail totally defeats the purpose of Anti Snag.

The P220 compact doesn't have a rail, but it does have a beavertail.
